Now that you've found your way to our small corner of the internet, I guess it's time to introduce ourselves!

We are Be PAWsitive Pet Services - a small business providing dog walking, pet home visits, pet sitting, and canine socialisation session services in Nantwich, Cheshire. Where there's a dog in need of a walk, we're there ready to get muddy!

That's us!

My name is Adele (but everyone knows me as Deli) and I co-own this amazing small business along with my partner, Asher! Although we regularly hear and see comments along the lines of "that's a nice hobby" and "surely this isn't a real job", I feel super lucky to say this is what we and our team do full-time!

(I promise you won't be as jealous when you see us drenched from torrential rain... See exhibit A of Asher soaked through with Doyle the Labrador!)

I didn't always see myself becoming a dog walker. As a child I was convinced I would become a Paleontologist or a Marine Biologist, but being a neurodivergent person and struggling both academically and socially in workplaces, I found that being self-employed and setting my own rules has been so much better for my health. So, here we are... Walking up to 35,000 steps a day and ruining my knees, but I wouldn't have it any other way! All the doggo cuddles and funny moments falling face first in mud are so worth it.

Asher and I met each other in 2018 when we both moved to Reaseheath College to study an Undergraduate degree in Animal Behaviour & Welfare. We had both worked in the animal industry previously, so we instantly clicked and shared ideas of what our futures may look like (I'll give you a hint, it included many dogs).

Like many students, we found ourselves having to find a part-time job, but we just had no luck at all. And then it hit us... We could walk dogs together! And with the help of an old friend coming up with a business name, Be PAWsitive was born. We didn't ever expect our small business to become what it is today - we started very small back in September 2019, and now here we are.

(I've definitely made this all sound like a super easy process, but I promise building our first business from the ground came with a lot of stress, anxiety, and mistakes!)

Fast forward to today, 7th Feb 2023, and Be PAWsitive is 3 years and 4 months old! In that time we have graduated from University - myself with a Bachelors degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, and Asher with a Bachelor's degree in Canine Clinical Behaviour. We have gone full-time, cared for many amazing pets, expanded to include Dog Grooming services, Asher has started working as an Assistant Dog Trainer with a local business, and we now have three amazing new dog walkers on our team - Becky, Becca, and Cat! The past 6 months have especially felt intense as we have grown the team, but in hind-sight I am so thrilled that we did it.

We are beyond proud of our small business and ourselves for sticking with it through the tough parts - maybe I should write a whole separate blog on being a dog walker in lockdown! But we're not stopping here. We are so excited for what we have planned for the rest of 2023: Taking on new clients, watching current clients growing up from pups to adult dogs, and some exciting changes to our services that may come soon...

To anyone reading this and to all our incredible clients, I want to say thank you! We wouldn't be here without you. Thank you for being on this journey with us, and I hope you'll stick around to see what comes next!
